Origins of Owell

The down-and-dirty story of Owell Precast

Envisioned in 1991 by Brent Baker and Dave Balls, Owell Precast began as an afterthought—or an after-product, to be precise. Already owners of a successful ready-mix concrete business, the two were looking for a productive use of "returned concrete"—the leftover concrete in trucks coming back from delivery jobs. It started by pouring the mud into a mold for window wells. When a mold with a stone pattern was conceived, sales took off.

Today, Brent, Dave, and third partner, Dan Balls, have expanded Owell Precast to include a variety of those window wells, plus walls, fence posts, signs—even entire buildings and entertainment venues. The company now boasts the largest production area and biggest custom precast facility in the region.
